Organize your chats
Use the sidebar to keep active work close, move related conversations into projects, and clear away chats you no longer need.
Find an earlier conversation
Select the Search conversations magnifying glass in the sidebar header. On a computer, you can also press Command+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux.
Enter a title, phrase, or topic under Search conversations…. Results show the matching conversation, a short excerpt, and the number of matches. Select a result to open that chat.
Search covers conversation titles and contents. If nothing matches, Bearly shows No results found; try a shorter or more distinctive phrase.
Rename or pin a chat
Open the chat’s three-dot menu in the sidebar:
- Select Rename, enter the new title, then press Enter or click elsewhere to save it.
- Select Pin to place the conversation under Pinned. Open the same menu and select Unpin when it no longer needs special prominence.
- Select Mark unread to give the conversation an unread marker. Opening it marks it read, or you can choose Mark read from the menu.
You can also rename the open conversation by selecting its title in the chat header.
Move chats into projects
Move to project… appears after you have at least one project.
- Open a chat’s three-dot menu and select Move to project….
- Search for a project if needed, then select its name. A project already containing every selected chat is marked Current.
- To move a chat back to the main list, open the menu again, choose Move to project…, then select Remove from project.
On a computer, you can also drag a chat onto a project in the sidebar. The project controls which project documents and settings are available to that conversation.
Archive finished work
Open a chat’s three-dot menu and select Archive. The chat leaves the main list but is not deleted.
Select Archives near the sidebar footer to show or hide archived chats. Open an archived chat’s menu and select Unarchive to return it to the active list.
Archived chats cannot be deleted. Unarchive one before choosing Delete.
Act on several chats
- Open any chat’s three-dot menu and select Select.
- Use the checkboxes to choose more conversations. Choose Select all only when you want every chat in the current main list or active filtered view.
- Select Move, Archive, or Delete. Select Cancel to leave selection mode without changing anything.
If selected archived chats are included in a bulk deletion, Bearly skips them and asks you to unarchive them first.
Delete a chat
Open the chat’s three-dot menu, select Delete, review the confirmation, then select Delete again.
Deleting one message is different from deleting the chat. Use Delete Query beneath a message when you want to remove only that exchange.
