Talk with Bearly by voice

View as markdown

Voice conversations let you speak with Bearly in real time inside an existing chat. Bearly can use the conversation’s earlier context, answer aloud, and keep a transcript so you can continue the work in writing afterward.

Voice is available wherever the microphone control appears in Bearly. It requires microphone access and a secure connection. It is temporarily unavailable in Firefox; use Chrome or the Bearly desktop app instead. A managed-team policy can also hide voice conversations.

Start a voice conversation

  1. Open the chat you want to continue

Voice starts inside the current chat. If you want Bearly to draw on a document, earlier answer, or other context, open that conversation before starting the call.

  2. Select Start call

Select the microphone button labeled Start call beside the message box. When your browser or operating system asks, allow Bearly to use the microphone.

  3. Wait for Listening

The message box becomes a call bar. Its status moves through Connecting, Listening, Thinking, and Speaking, so you can tell whose turn it is. The active call also appears as a microphone indicator on that chat in the sidebar.

  4. Speak naturally

Ask a question, develop an idea, or continue the task already in the chat. Bearly answers aloud and can use the capabilities available to that conversation when your request needs them.

  5. End the call

Select End call in the call bar or on the voice card in the conversation. The finished card shows Call ended, the duration, and Show transcript.

You can follow the call with an ordinary message such as “Turn that discussion into a one-page brief.” The saved transcript gives Bearly the text of the voice conversation; you do not need to repeat it.

Use the call controls

  • Microphone: When more than one input is available, choose the microphone by selecting its name in the call bar. Bearly remembers the selected device on that device.
  • Mute microphone: Stops sending microphone input without ending the call. Select Unmute microphone when you are ready to continue.
  • End call: Ends the session and returns the normal message box.
  • Show transcript: Expands the completed conversation as alternating You and Bearly turns.

Keep Bearly in the foreground during a mobile voice conversation. Mobile operating systems can pause live microphone and network activity when the app moves to the background.

Usage and session limits

Voice conversations count toward your Bearly usage. The model and per-session allowance depend on your plan. If a call reaches its allowance, Bearly shows Voice limit reached and saves the transcript completed so far. Start another call when you are ready to continue.

An inactive call may also end after a short quiet period. Select Start call again to begin a fresh session in the same chat.
