Send email or text messages from a chat

Ask Bearly to send work from any chat. Send Email creates a formatted message for your account address or eligible teammates. Send SMS sends a concise plain-text message to the verified phone on your account.

These actions are available on web, desktop, iOS, and Android when allowed for your account. A managed-team policy can hide email or text messaging.

You can also make an explicit request such as “Email this summary to me” in an ordinary message. The slash command makes the sending intent unmistakable. Email is sent when that chat step runs; Send Email does not schedule delivery for a later time.

Send an email

1. Prepare the material in the chat

   Ask Bearly to create the summary, draft, checklist, or other content you want to send. Attach or generate any files that should travel with the email before starting the command.

2. Choose Send Email

   Type /email, then select Send Email under Utilities. The message box changes to What would you like to email?

3. Name the recipients and contents

   State who should receive the message, the subject, what the body should include, and which chat files to attach. If you do not name a recipient, Bearly sends the email to you.

   Email me the decision summary from this chat with the subject “Launch review.” Attach the final budget workbook.

   For a teammate, use the person’s name or work email and remove any ambiguity:

   Email Maya Chen the three approved action items. Use the subject “Monday follow-up,” attach the project brief, and keep the body under 200 words.

4. Review the request and send it

   Check the recipients, subject, requested text, and attachment names before submitting the message. Selecting Send Email only stages the command; submitting your request authorizes Bearly to send it without a separate draft-preview screen.

5. Confirm the result

   A Send Email step appears in the chat. A successful send reports Email sent to the recipient or recipient count and shows the subject. Open the email to check the final formatting and attachments.

Sent email cannot be recalled in Bearly

After Bearly reports that the email was sent, you cannot edit or unsend it from the chat. Send a corrected follow-up if something needs to change.

Send a text message

Text messaging has limited availability

Send SMS appears only when text messaging is available for your account. It currently supports verified US and Canadian mobile numbers.

1. Ask for the text

   In any chat, state what the message should contain. You can type /sms and select Send SMS, or make an explicit request in an ordinary message.

   Text me the three launch decisions from this chat. Keep it under 250 characters.

2. Set up your phone if Bearly asks

   If no verified phone can receive the message, the chat shows a Set up text messages card. Select Open Phone & SMS, enter your number, agree to the texting terms, and enter the code Bearly sends.

   You can also set this up before sending from Settings → Phone & SMS. After verification, the page shows a masked version of the saved number. You can change, test, opt out, or delete it from the same page.

3. Send again and confirm the result

   Return to the chat and ask Bearly to send the text again after setup. A successful Send SMS step reports that the text was sent to your verified phone. Open the received message to check the final wording.

Bearly cannot text a number supplied in the chat. It always uses the verified phone on your account. SMS is plain text and does not support chat files or Markdown formatting. Long messages can be rejected because carrier segment limits vary with the characters used.

Sent texts cannot be recalled in Bearly

After Bearly reports that the text was sent, you cannot edit or unsend it from the chat. Check whether it arrived before retrying, because a retry can create a duplicate.

Who can receive an email

• With no recipient specified, Bearly sends to the email address on your account.
• Bearly can send to accepted members of your managed work team. It cannot use this command to send to arbitrary outside addresses.
• When Bearly emails teammates, it also sends a copy to your account address. Replies are directed to that address, so the conversation can continue in ordinary email.
• You can include up to 25 eligible recipients in one email.

If Bearly cannot match a teammate, use the person’s work email exactly as it appears in Teams → your team → Members. A pending invite is not yet an eligible recipient.

Attach files and stay within limits

You can attach up to 10 files from the current conversation. Each file can be up to 25 MB, with a 50 MB combined limit. Bearly accepts up to 20 email requests from your account in an hour.

The sent confirmation proves that the message was accepted for delivery; it does not list every attachment. A file can be omitted if it is no longer available to Bearly or cannot be prepared for email. Open the received message and verify important attachments.

If the email does not arrive as expected

What you see	What to do
Send Email does not appear after typing /email	Check for a Bearly update. On a managed account, ask an administrator whether sending email from chat is allowed.
Bearly cannot find the teammate	Confirm that the person has accepted membership in your managed work team. Use the exact work email shown under Members, or send the message to yourself and forward it.
The Send Email step reports a failure	Check the network connection and retry once. If it continues, simplify the message, reduce the attachments, or wait before trying again.
The request exceeds an attachment limit	Remove files, make a smaller copy, or split the material across emails, then submit a new request.
Bearly says too many emails were sent	Wait until the one-hour limit clears before sending another email.
The confirmation appears but the message is missing	Check spam and the inbox for the account or work address shown in your request. Ask Bearly to send a new message only after confirming the address; retries can create duplicates.
The email arrived without an attachment	Return to the chat, confirm that the file still opens, attach a smaller or fresh copy if needed, and send a follow-up email naming that file explicitly.
The content or recipient was wrong	Send a corrected follow-up. Bearly cannot alter the email that has already been sent.
Send SMS does not appear	Text messaging is not available for the account, or a managed-team policy has disabled it.
The chat shows Set up text messages	Select Open Phone & SMS, complete verification, return to the chat, and submit the request again.
Bearly says the text is too long	Ask for a shorter plain-text message without emoji or special characters, then send it again.
The text does not arrive	Open Settings → Phone & SMS and use Test. If you opted out, choose Opt back in and complete verification before retrying. If the page says texts are off, choose Re-enable.
