Desktop only

Bearly Browser is available in the Bearly desktop app. It does not run on web or mobile. A team admin can disable Browser for managed accounts.

Bearly Browser lets a chat work on sites you approve, usually in the background. Open the Browser panel to watch, browse yourself, or point Bearly at part of a page.

The Browser uses a profile on this device for the current Bearly account. Its site sign-ins are separate from your normal browser, another Bearly account, and Bearly’s own sign-in. To work in your everyday Chrome and its existing sign-ins instead, see Control Chrome from Bearly.

Turn on Browser

1. Open Bearly desktop and select App Settings.
2. Under Desktop, select Browser.
3. Turn on Enable Browser.
4. If you want Bearly to operate pages for chat tasks, also turn on Allow chats to use Browser. New sites still require your approval.

Block ads and trackers is available in supported desktop versions. If a page stops working correctly, turn it off temporarily and reload the page.

Browse manually

Select the Open Browser globe in the chat title bar. It shows the number of agent-owned tabs when any are open.

Enter a web address under Browser address and press Enter. The Browser opens beside the conversation with familiar Back, Forward, Reload, tab, and close controls. Use Expand Browser when you need more room, or Open in system browser to hand the current page to your usual browser.

You can keep up to eight Browser tabs open across your chats. Closing the panel keeps those tabs running in the background. Switching chats or pages in Bearly keeps them open too.

HTTP and HTTPS sites are supported, including local development servers such as http://localhost:3000 and devices on your local network. HTTP connections are not encrypted.

Review a certificate warning

If a site has an invalid or self-signed HTTPS certificate, Browser opens a Your connection isn’t private warning—even when an agent opened the site in the background. Read Certificate details and choose Go back, or Proceed anyway only if you trust the site and network.

Only you can make this decision. An agent cannot approve the warning or bypass it. An exception is temporary and applies only to the exact origin, certificate, and reported certificate error; it does not change trust in your system browser. If an approval expires, you can still choose Go back, or reload to request a new warning.

Ask Bearly to work with a site

With Allow chats to use Browser on, make the target and boundary explicit:

In Browser, open the pricing page for this service and compare the three plans in a table. Do not sign in, start a trial, or submit anything.

At Let this chat use this site?, review the site address and reason, choose Once, This response, This session, or This chat, then select the Allow button. You can also deny access or stop the task. Session approvals end when the chat reloads or the app restarts. Some settings or account-policy changes also reload the chat. Chat approvals cover future responses in this chat on the same device until revoked.

An approval applies to the named site for that chat, not the whole web. Another site asks separately. A manual address you open while working in a chat is approved for that chat’s Browser session.

Each chat’s agent controls only its own tabs, marked with a robot icon. Tabs you create with the new-tab button are yours. Tabs share this account’s Browser sign-ins; tab ownership does not create a separate signed-in account for each chat.

Use Take over this tab to pause its chat’s agent while you work on the page. Select Resume this tab’s agent when you are ready to hand control back. Taking over one chat’s tabs does not pause other chats.

Submissions, opaque visual actions, website tools, and file downloads have separate site-specific approvals. Choose a longer duration to allow a batch of those actions. Bearly still reveals the relevant tab before submissions or opaque visual actions. Passwords, payments, purchases, account creation, CAPTCHAs, file uploads, permission changes, and destructive actions remain for you to complete directly on the visible page.

Treat pages as untrusted

A website can contain misleading text or instructions aimed at an AI assistant. Review the visible site, the requested access, and any proposed submission. Do not put a secret into the chat or approve an action merely because a page asks for it.

Point to part of a page

Use an annotation when a visual element is easier to identify than to describe:

1. Open the page and select Capture and annotate page.
2. Click an element, or drag over a region.
3. Under What should Bearly change or inspect?, add a short instruction.
4. Select Attach. The captured annotation is added to the chat composer.
5. Add any remaining context and send the message.

If the page changes before the annotation is attached, select the element again. Press Esc to cancel annotation mode.

Bring in existing site sign-ins

Under App Settings → Desktop → Browser, Import browser cookies can copy current sign-ins from a supported Chrome or Edge profile.

1. Choose a Browser profile and select Import.
2. Review Import cookies from profile?, then select Import cookies.
3. Reload any open pages after the import finishes.

Only cookies are copied into the current account’s Bearly Browser profile; the source browser is unchanged. Passwords, history, bookmarks, and autofill are not imported. Protected cookies may be skipped, and macOS may ask for access to the source browser’s secure storage.

Reset tabs or site data

The two reset actions have different consequences:

• Reset open tabs → Reset tabs closes Browser tabs and clears their local history and site approvals. Cookies and site sign-ins remain.
• Delete browser data → Delete data → Delete browser data signs this Bearly account out of sites and deletes its Browser cookies, cache, and local site storage on this device. It does not delete Bearly chats, Bearly account data, Browser preferences, or another Bearly account’s Browser data.

Turning off Enable Browser stops the embedded pages and agent control. Re-enabling it reloads the retained tab addresses; unsaved page state may be lost. Site data is not deleted.

If Browser does not work

What you see	What to do
Browser is missing	Confirm that you are using the latest Bearly desktop app. If you use a managed account, ask your team admin whether Browser is disabled.
A Browser setting asks for an update	Install the latest Bearly desktop version, restart it, and return to App Settings → Desktop → Browser.
That address uses an unsupported protocol.	Enter a normal https:// or http:// web address.
A site breaks with blocking enabled	Turn off Block ads and trackers, then reload the page.
Your connection isn’t private	Review the certificate warning yourself. The agent must wait for your decision.
The agent says you took over	Select Resume this tab’s agent in Browser when you want the chat to continue.
A page takes too long to load	Agent navigation stops after 10 seconds. Review the current page before retrying; a form may already have been submitted.
Cookies cannot be imported	Close the source browser, make sure its profile is available on this device, and try again. Protected cookie storage can prevent some or all cookies from being copied.
Bearly cannot attach to a tab or annotation	Reload the page or open it in a new Browser tab, then retry the action.
You no longer want site access active	Open approvals near the chat input and select Revoke or Revoke all. This stops current work and asks again before further access.
