Comparison matrix

Eight AI assistants, checked one question at a time.

96 capability questions, answered for Claude, Bearly, Gemini, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok. Every cell keeps the plans and platforms it depends on, the limits we found, how confident we are, and the source we read.

We make Bearly, so treat this as an interested party's homework rather than a neutral audit. That is exactly why the rules, the confidence, and the evidence sit next to each cell: check the rows you care about instead of trusting our summary.

Questions

Sources were read on September 1, 2026 and are due for review on October 1, 2026. If that second date has passed, treat plan names, release states, and anything price-adjacent as unverified until we refresh them.

How to read a cell

Six states, and they are not a scale. “Not checked” means we did not verify the question for that product; it is not a quiet way of saying the feature is missing.

  • Built in

    The product does this itself.

  • Via integration

The product does this through a named first-party integration or connected service.

  • Limited

The product supports a materially narrower form of the capability. The limit is recorded on the cell.

  • Not available

A current first-party source or a dated hands-on test establishes that the capability is missing.

  • Not checked

Nobody verified this question for this product. It is not a claim that the capability is missing.

  • Not applicable

The question does not sensibly apply to this product.

A cell can also carry a release state (beta or preview) and a confidence marker. Open any row to see the plans and platforms the answer depends on, the limits recorded against it, whether the claim is sourced or still needs a hands-on check, and links to the vendor pages we read.

The matrix

Narrow to the products and the area you are deciding about. Scanning all eight columns at once is rarely the useful move.

Coverage is uneven, and that cuts both ways: 2 of the other seven products are researched more completely than Bearly here and 5 less. Where a competitor's cell says not checked, the row flatters us. That is a gap in our homework, not a finding about their product.

Products

96 of 96 questions across 8 products. Open a row for plans, platforms, limits, and sources. The tables scroll sideways; switch products off above to narrow them.

Comparing Bearly with one product?

Start with a shorter, decision-focused page. Each one explains when Bearly is the better fit, when the other product still makes sense, and what moving your work would actually involve.

How this was built

One public product, one record

Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot are different products with different plans and different access to your tenant, so they get separate columns. Same rule everywhere: we compare things a person can actually buy or sign into, not company brands.

A blank is “not checked”, never “not available”

If nobody found a current first-party statement for a question, the cell says not checked. Calling that a missing feature is the most common way a comparison table lies, and it is the one we most want to avoid.

Support, release state, and confidence are three different things

A product can support something natively, in preview, and on evidence we only half trust. Collapsing those into one checkmark throws away the part you need when the decision is close.

Sources are first-party and dated

Product pages, help centers, policies, and developer documentation published by the vendor, each read on a recorded date. A third-party roundup can tell us where to look; it cannot make a claim publishable here.

No prices in the cells

Plan names qualify a cell because access often depends on the plan. Prices change faster than this page can honestly track, so they stay on each vendor's own pricing page and ours stays on /pricing.

Generated, not hand-typed

The table is built from eight structured product records by a script in this repository, so a cell cannot quietly disagree with the evidence behind it. Columns follow the record IDs, which sort by company; that is why Claude comes first and Bearly does not.

What this page does not tell you

Whether a product has a feature and whether it does the job well are separate questions, and only the first one is answerable from documentation. Nothing on this page ranks answer quality, citation accuracy, writing, file handling, or task completion.

The eight scenarios below are the test plan for that second question. The fixtures, prompts, answer keys, and scoring rules are written; No runs are recorded yet. Until every finalist has been through the same fixtures, we will not publish a winner, and you should discount anyone who derives one from a checkbox table.

  1. Cited market brief on US air passenger volume

Produce a current market brief from the web with claims that can be checked at the cited source.

Fixture: A dated, non-sensitive market question with five known public primary sources and two plausible but incorrect claims to catch.

    0 of 8 products run

  2. Vendor access policy, version 3.1 against 4.0

Compare two PDFs and produce a decision-ready difference table with source passages.

Fixture: Two synthetic policy memos with overlapping sections, changed numbers, one removed obligation, and one scanned page.

    0 of 8 products run

  3. Routeboard pilot memo, revised under constraints

Revise a draft for clarity while preserving facts, voice, length, and prohibited wording constraints.

Fixture: A synthetic 700-word product memo with a factual ledger, a target audience, a length band, and five phrases that must not appear.

    0 of 8 products run

  4. Six months of regional operating data

Analyze a spreadsheet, explain the main driver, and return a correct chart and reusable workbook or table.

Fixture: A synthetic monthly operating dataset with missing values, one outlier, a known weighted calculation, and a misleading unweighted average.

    0 of 8 products run

  5. Meridian depot cutover brief

Create an editable project brief with a table, timeline, and consistent formatting.

Fixture: A synthetic project packet with goals, owners, dates, dependencies, and one conflicting date that must be surfaced.

    0 of 8 products run

  6. Three public pricing pages, read-only

Use a browser to collect structured information from several public pages while respecting a stop boundary.

Fixture: Three public product pages with comparable fields and one visible control that would cause a consequential external action.

    0 of 8 products run

  7. Weekly watch on three public release-note pages

Create a recurring competitor update that runs at the requested time and preserves each run separately.

Fixture: A privacy-safe prompt that checks three public release-note pages weekly and reports only material changes with source links.

    0 of 8 products run

  8. Two-speaker cutover check-in

Record a synthetic meeting, distinguish speakers, and turn the transcript into accurate decisions and actions.

Fixture: A consented synthetic two-speaker recording with names, two decisions, three assigned actions, one correction, and one interruption.

    0 of 8 products run

Coverage and sources, product by product

Coverage is uneven and we would rather show you where. A product with fewer answered questions is under-researched here, which is a fact about this page and not about the product.
