One model, or several?
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok are each one company's assistant. Bearly and Perplexity offer models from several companies in one app, and both can show you more than one answer to the same prompt or merge them into a single reply. Microsoft's Copilots use models from more than one company but do not hand you a full model picker. If you already know which model you want, this row matters less. If you like a second opinion, it is the biggest difference on this page.

What you can hand it
PDFs, spreadsheets, images, and general file uploads work everywhere, so those rows will not decide anything. Audio and video are less even: some products transcribe an uploaded recording as a matter of course, others only handle it through one specific feature. Working with files on your computer without uploading them first is newer, mostly desktop-only, and usually behind a permission prompt.

What it can make
Documents, slides, spreadsheets, and charts come out of all of them in some form. Image generation is close to universal; Claude is the exception and says so, drawing diagrams and interactive visuals rather than photos or illustrations. Video generation and downloadable spoken audio are where the list gets short.

Meetings and voice
Talking to the assistant out loud is universal. Recording a meeting, getting a transcript with speaker names, and then asking questions about what was said is where the field thins out. Bearly and ChatGPT do it inside the app, and both need their desktop app to record. Microsoft 365 Copilot works from Teams recordings; Gemini's recording is a Google Meet feature rather than part of the Gemini app.

What it does on its own
Recurring tasks, an agent that browses for you, and control of your desktop have moved from demos into shipping features, several still marked beta or preview. The differences are about reach: whether the agent works in its own browser or in the tabs you already have open and are signed into, whether it can operate desktop apps, and whether it can send an email once you approve it.

Who sees your work
Most products here do not train on your content by default, but read the plan names on the row: for several, that default only covers business plans, and Gemini's consumer plans are the documented exception. Zero data retention, where the model provider keeps nothing once it has answered, is rarer and mostly tied to enterprise contracts. Working on local files without uploading them to a cloud project is a newer control and usually desktop-only. Single sign-on, SCIM, SOC 2, and audit logs live in the same table.

Running it for a team
For a team the questions change: a managed workspace, roles, who may use which model, and how high the bill can go. Consumer Microsoft Copilot is not built for this, so its cells read not applicable. Gemini's answers depend on a qualifying Google Workspace account, and several of its admin cells are still unchecked. The rest offer the standard set, usually on their business or enterprise plans.

When something else fits better: If your work lives inside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, the tenant-connected Copilot or Gemini may matter more than model choice. If you want one company's app exactly as they built it, use that app; access to its models inside Bearly is not the same as its subscription.

How we checked
Features, not verdicts.
Whether a product has a feature and whether it does the job well are different questions, and only the first is answerable from documentation. We have written 8 hands-on scenarios for the second; 0 runs are recorded so far, and we will not name a winner from a checklist.
Coverage is uneven, and that cuts both ways: 2 of the other 7 products are researched more completely than Bearly here and 5 less. Where a competitor's cell says not checked, that is a gap in our homework, not a finding about their product.
Vendor documentation only
Product pages, help centers, policies, and developer docs published by the vendor, each read on a recorded date. Third-party roundups told us where to look; none of them made a claim publishable.
One product, one column
Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot have different plans and different access to your data, so they are compared separately. Same rule everywhere: we compare things you can sign into, not company brands.
A blank says so
If nobody verified a feature for a product, the cell reads “not checked”. It is never shown as missing. “Not available” appears only when the vendor's own documentation or a dated hands-on test establishes it.
Plans, not prices
A plan name tells you where a feature lives. Prices move faster than a dated page can track, so they stay on each vendor's pricing page, and ours stays on /pricing.
Generated, not typed
The table is built from the product records by a script in our repository, so a cell cannot quietly disagree with the evidence behind it. A correction to a record shows up on every page that uses it.
Dated, and due for review
Sources were read on September 1, 2026 and are due for another pass by October 1, 2026. After that date, treat plan names, release states, and anything price-adjacent as unverified until we refresh them.

- Which AI assistants let you use models from more than one company?
- In this comparison, Bearly and Perplexity. Both let you choose the model for a chat and can show several answers to one prompt. Microsoft's Copilots use models from more than one company but do not expose a full model picker, so their cells read limited.
- Do these assistants train on my conversations?
- Most exclude your content from training by default, but often only on business plans, so check the plan names on the row. Gemini keeps activity on by default on consumer plans and documents that it may be used for training. Every product's cell links to the policy page we read.
- Which AI assistants can record and transcribe meetings?
- Bearly and ChatGPT record and transcribe meetings inside the app, with speaker labels; both need their desktop app to record. Microsoft 365 Copilot works from Teams recordings and transcripts. Gemini's recording is a Google Meet feature rather than part of the Gemini app.
- Which AI assistant is best?
- This page cannot tell you, and neither can any feature table. Having a feature and doing the job well are different questions, and only the second one is answered by running the same task in each product. We have written 8 hands-on scenarios for that and recorded 0 runs so far. Until every product has been through the same scenarios, we will not name one.
- Does Bearly include ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini subscriptions?
- No. Bearly gives you access to models from those companies inside Bearly. Their own apps are separate products with their own features, and this table compares them as such.
- How current is this comparison?
- Sources were read on September 1, 2026 and are due for another pass by October 1, 2026. Plan names and release states move fastest, so treat them as unverified after that date. Send corrections, with the vendor page that shows the change, to support@bearly.ai.
- What does “not checked” mean?
- Nobody verified that feature for that product, so we do not claim it is missing. “Not available” appears only when the vendor's own documentation, or a dated hands-on test, establishes that the feature does not exist. The two look different in the table on purpose.
