With **Unitemized billing** on, Bearly bills your usage as one rounded total per day instead of itemizing each request's model, cost, and time. The setting is available on paid plans. On a managed team, an administrator has to allow it before members can turn it on. ## Why turn it on A per-request usage history shows which AI models you use, when you use them, and what each request cost. That detail helps answer billing questions, but it is also a record of how you work. With unitemized billing, your plan's limits and billing use rounded daily totals, and the per-request usage detail isn't kept in your usage history. ## Turn on unitemized billing 1. Open your account menu and follow **App Settings** → **Settings** → **Privacy**. 2. Turn on **Unitemized billing**. 3. Read the notes, check both boxes, and select **Turn on**. New usage then appears in **App Settings** → **Settings** → **Usage** as one **Bearly Private** line, with no model breakdown or call count. To stop, turn the switch off. New usage is recorded per request again, and the daily totals already saved stay as they are. ## How it works - **One running total per day.** Each request adds its cost to that day's total. The request's model, size, and time aren't stored in your usage history. - **Only the final total is saved.** During the day, the running total is kept in a part of our database that isn't copied into backups. When the day ends, Bearly saves the final total, rounded to the nearest 10 cents, or to the cent when it's under 10 cents. - **Limits work the same way.** Your daily and monthly limits count these totals. A few kinds of usage with their own limits, such as Deep Research, keep separate daily totals. - **No per-request analytics.** The Bearly app and servers stop sending per-request usage analytics for your account. - **Provider bills are checked without your account.** Bearly still pays each AI provider for the requests it handles. To check those bills, it keeps per-model totals that combine everyone using unitemized billing, with no account attached. A day's per-model totals are saved only when at least 10 accounts used unitemized billing that day; otherwise they're added to totals for the whole month. ## What stays the same - **Your chats.** Conversations are saved as usual, including which model answered each message and when. Delete any you don't want kept. - **What the AI provider receives.** The provider that answers a request still receives what it needs to answer. To use only providers that keep nothing after processing, turn on [zero-data-retention models](https://bearly.ai/docs/zero-data-retention.md). - **Earlier usage.** Usage from before you turned the setting on keeps its detail, including in backups until they expire. ## Tradeoffs - **Billing is final.** Bearly can't review or refund individual charges, because it doesn't have them. - **Totals are rounded.** Each saved total can differ from its exact cost by up to 5 cents. - **A quiet day says more.** When a day has a single request, or one large request such as a Deep Research run, its total still shows roughly what that request cost. - **Combined totals aren't anonymous in every case.** If only one account used a particular model on a day, or few accounts use unitemized billing at all, the combined per-model totals say more about those accounts. - **Older app versions.** Older versions of Bearly keep sending usage analytics until they update. - **Free plan.** On the Free plan the setting is paused and usage is recorded per request. - **Web server logs.** Bearly's web servers keep access logs of incoming requests, including IP address and time, for security. ## For team administrators Open your account menu, select **Organizations**, choose your organization, and open **Policies**. Select a policy or **Add policy**. Under **Feature access** → **Privacy & Security**, turn on **Unitemized billing**, then select **Save**. See [Set organization policies](https://bearly.ai/docs/teams/policies.md). - Each member still decides whether to turn it on for their own account. - If you stop allowing it, members' unitemized billing pauses and new usage is recorded per request again. - Team usage reports show a member's daily totals as **Bearly Private**, without per-model detail or call counts.
