# Protect your work in Bearly

Bearly gives you controls for deciding what context enters a chat, protecting sensitive projects, and removing local or account data. This guide explains those visible controls. For the legal terms governing personal information, read the [Privacy Policy](https://bearly.ai/privacy-policy.md).

## Decide what to share with a chat

Your message, the relevant conversation context, and anything you attach can be sent to the AI model handling your request. A feature may need additional information to do its job—for example, Computer Use may share screenshots of your display after you approve access.

Before sending sensitive work:

- Check the selected model and the files attached to the message.
- Remove information the task does not require.
- Read permission requests before selecting **Allow**.
- Tell Bearly to pause before consequential actions such as sending, submitting, purchasing, or overwriting a file.

Managed-team policies can limit the models and features available to a member. If a control is missing or locked, ask a team administrator whether a policy applies.

## Control personalization and memory

Open **App Settings** → **Chats** → **Personalization** to decide whether Bearly includes your profile in conversations. When **Personalization** is on, the **Name**, **Occupation**, and **About you** information you provide is shared with AI models in your conversations. Turn it off when you do not want that profile context included.

The **Memories** control determines whether a chat can draw on earlier Bearly conversations. In a project, you can limit memory to that project or allow searches across all chats. Select **Off** when the current conversation should not use remembered context.

## Password-protect a project

Project password protection is useful when access to a project should require a separate password.

Open the project, select **Settings**, then select **Protect** beside **Encryption**. The password must contain at least eight characters.

> **Danger — Bearly cannot recover a forgotten project password**
> Without the password, the protected project and its data cannot be recovered. Store it somewhere appropriate before enabling protection.

## Review desktop access

Desktop features ask for access when they need to work outside the chat.

- **Computer Use** asks before it can observe or control the desktop. Access may last for one reply or the current session, and **Stop** revokes the active session permission.
- macOS may separately require **Accessibility**, **Screen Recording**, or microphone permission. Those operating-system permissions remain under your control in **System Settings**.
- A managed-team policy may disable desktop features even when the operating system permits them.

## Lock local access or sign out

Open your account menu and follow **App Settings** → **Account**.

- **Lock all data** locks password-protected work on the current device. You will need to enter the relevant passwords again.
- **Log out** clears local Bearly data and signs you out. You will need to sign in again.

Both actions show a confirmation before continuing.

## Delete your account or request privacy help

In the Bearly iOS app, **App Settings** → **Account** includes **Delete account**. Account deletion is permanent. If the account has an Apple subscription, review or cancel that subscription as part of the process.
