# Edit an image

Bearly can create a new version of an image from a plain-language instruction. You do not need to paint over an area: describe what should change, what should remain, and where the change belongs.

## Make an edit



1. **Choose Edit Image**

   Open a chat, type `/`, and select **Edit Image**.

2. **Attach the source image**

   Select the plus icon beside the message box, choose **Attach files**, and add the image. If it is already attached in the conversation, identify it clearly in the request.

3. **Describe the change**

   Be explicit about the subject, position, and details that should stay untouched.

   ```text copy
   Replace the daytime sky with a restrained pink-and-blue sunset. Keep the building, camera angle, and all signs unchanged.
   ```

4. **Send the request**

   Bearly creates an initial edit and opens the image gallery in the conversation. The new version appears beside its source.

5. **Inspect and continue**

   Focus the edited image to review it. Select **Edit** again for another change, **Re-run** for another attempt with the same settings, or use **Copy image**, **Download**, and **View full size** to take the result elsewhere.



An edit produces a new image; it does not overwrite the source. Earlier uploads, generations, and edits remain available in the gallery.

## Edit from an open gallery

For an image already in the gallery, focus it and select **Edit**. The source becomes selected, the gallery shows **Editing 1 image**, and the prompt field changes to **What should change...**.

Enter the instruction, then choose one of the labeled editing-model buttons. Each button creates a separate result, making it possible to compare interpretations. Use **Upload images** in the thumbnail strip when you need to add another source without leaving the gallery.

## Write a useful edit instruction

Give the model enough information to distinguish the requested change from the parts you want preserved:

- Name the exact object or person to change.
- Use spatial language only when it matters: “the lamp on the left,” “behind the subject,” or “in the upper-right corner.”
- State important constraints, such as “keep the face unchanged” or “preserve the existing crop.”
- For a broad transformation, name the intended medium or visual treatment.

For complex work, make one coherent change at a time. A shorter sequence of edits is easier to evaluate than one instruction containing several unrelated transformations.

> **Caution**
> Image editing regenerates the picture and may alter details you did not mention. Check faces, hands, text, product marks, proportions, and the edges around changed areas before using the result.


## If the edit is wrong or does not run

- If the wrong image is selected, choose **Cancel**, then focus the intended source and select **Edit** again.
- If Bearly changes too much, repeat the edit with a narrower instruction and explicitly name what must remain unchanged.
- If the request says **Blocked**, remove explicit details or rephrase the instruction.
- If it says **Failed**, retry or select a different editing model. A temporary model or network problem may succeed on another attempt.
- If Bearly cannot load the source, upload the image again and retry from the new copy.
- If editing controls are unavailable, the chat may be read-only or image tools may be disabled by a managed-team policy.
