# Download a video

Download Video saves a video from a supported link and places the playable file in your Bearly conversation. It works with sites such as X, Vimeo, TikTok, Reddit, and Twitch; site support can change and is not universal.

> **Note — YouTube requires Bearly desktop**
> **Download Video** supports YouTube in the Bearly desktop app. Outside desktop, the command supports compatible non-YouTube sites, but not YouTube.


## Download from a link



1. **Choose Download Video**

   Type `/` in the message box, then select **Download Video** under **Media Tools**.

2. **Add the video address**

   In **Provide the URL of the video you want to download**, paste the address of the individual video page. You can include up to three URLs in one request; put each on its own line so Bearly can distinguish them.

3. **Send the request and follow progress**

   The **Downloading video** step shows which item Bearly is handling and how many have finished. On desktop, it may also show preparation, download percentage, and file-transfer progress. Other platforms may show fewer intermediate details.

   While Bearly is working, the send button becomes **Stop**. Select it to cancel the active request.

4. **Play or save each result**

   Each successful download appears in the chat as soon as it is ready. Play it in the inline viewer, or select **Open** for the larger file panel and then select **Download**.



Downloaded videos remain in the conversation. You can find them later through the **Browse files** Files icon in the chat header; choose **Generated** to narrow the list.

## Multiple links and partial results

Bearly handles multiple URLs one at a time. The **Downloading video** step reports the completed and failed counts as it proceeds.

If one of several links fails, the videos that finished successfully remain playable and downloadable. Bearly reports how many were downloaded and how many failed. If every link fails, expand **Get Video** and read **Error** for the immediate problem.

Selecting **Stop** ends the active request. Any video that had already appeared in the conversation remains there.

## What may prevent a download

A direct link to a publicly reachable video page has the best chance of working. A site may reject a download because the video was removed, requires a sign-in, is private, is restricted in your region, or uses a format Bearly cannot save. A site that normally works may also change how it serves videos.

If a download fails:

- Open the URL normally and confirm that the video still plays.
- Copy the address of the individual video page rather than a search, profile, feed, or playlist page.
- Retry with one URL at a time.
- For YouTube, switch to the Bearly desktop app.
- If the source is temporarily unavailable or has changed, try again later.

> **Caution — Download only what you have the right to save**
> Download media only when you own it or have permission or another legal right to save it. Follow the source site's terms and applicable law. Downloading a file through Bearly does not grant permission to reuse or publish it.
