# Use Bearly on a web page

The Bearly extension gives you one-click actions for the page open in Chrome or Firefox. Results appear in a browser side panel, so you can keep the source page in view.

## Connect your Bearly account



1. Install Bearly from your browser's extension store, then select the Bearly icon in the toolbar.
2. Select **Sign in with Bearly**.
3. If Bearly asks you to sign in, complete the usual Google or email login. Bearly shows the account that will be connected before you continue, and you can choose another account.
4. Select **Show Bearly on websites**, then approve the browser's website-access request.



The popup shows **Bearly is connected** when the extension is ready. A small Bearly tab appears at the bottom-right edge of ordinary web pages. You normally stay connected in that browser profile. Select **Disconnect** to remove the page tab, revoke its website access, and disconnect the Bearly account.

## Run a quick action



1. Open the web page you want to work with.
2. Select the Bearly tab at the bottom-right edge. You can use the Bearly toolbar icon if the page tab is hidden.
3. Choose an action:
   - **Summarize page** uses the readable text from the current page.
   - **Action items** finds actions, owners, deadlines, decisions, and open questions.
   - **Ask this page** answers a question from the page rather than from general knowledge.
   - **Explain selection** uses only the text you selected first.
4. Read the response in the side panel. Select **Copy** to copy it. For a fixed action, select **Run again** to repeat it.



Selection actions stay disabled until you select text on the page. Bearly cannot read browser settings pages, extension-store pages, or other protected browser surfaces.

### Use Bearly in Google Docs

Open a Google Doc, then use **Summarize page**, **Action items**, or **Ask this page** as you would on another page. Bearly uses the document text that your signed-in browser can download. It does not ask you to connect Google Drive separately.

If your organization blocks document downloads and the document text is not available to the browser, Bearly shows **Bearly cannot read this page**. **Explain selection** may be unavailable when Google Docs does not expose the current selection to the browser.

## Hide or turn off the page tab

Open the Bearly page tab and select **Hide on this page** to remove it until you reload. This does not save the page address.

Select **Don’t show on this site** to keep the tab hidden on that site. You can show it again with **Show Bearly on this site** in the extension popup.

To remove the page tab from every website and revoke its website access, open the extension popup and select **Turn off on all websites**. Toolbar actions remain available for the current tab.

> **Note — What Bearly sends**
> Bearly sends the current selection or a cleaned copy of the readable page text after you choose an action. Extension usage analytics do not include the page title or address, selected or extracted text, or the result text.


## Fix a connection or permission problem

| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| **Connect Bearly before running an action** | Select **Sign in with Bearly** and finish the browser login window. |
| **Bearly could not finish signing in** | Return to the extension and select **Sign in with Bearly** again. |
| **Bearly cannot read this page** | Open a normal `http` or `https` page. Protected browser pages do not allow extensions to read them. |
| **Bearly does not have permission for this site** | Open the extension popup, select **Show Bearly on websites**, and approve the browser's website-access request. |
| The page tab no longer appears | Open the popup and check **Show Bearly on this site**. If website access is off, select **Show Bearly on websites** first. |

If a connected extension stops accepting requests, select **Disconnect**, then select **Sign in with Bearly** again. Contact [Bearly Support](mailto:support@bearly.ai) if the problem continues.
