# Ask Bearly to manage your chats

HTML: [https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/manage-with-bearly/](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/manage-with-bearly/)

> Find, read, create, rename, move, and delete conversations by asking Bearly in chat.

From any Bearly chat, you can ask Bearly to find and organize other conversations without leaving the chat you are using.

## Find and read an earlier chat

Describe the work you remember and what you need from it:

```text copy
Find the conversation where we agreed on the onboarding milestones and summarize the final plan.
```

Bearly searches the conversation memory available to the current chat, identifies likely matches, and reads the relevant conversation before answering. If a conversation is large, Bearly may add its complete contents to the current chat as a Markdown file and read the file in parts.

Topic search follows the current chat's **Memories** selection. In a project chat, **Project Only** searches that project's conversations and **All Chats** searches more broadly. If Bearly cannot find a conversation by topic, check **Memories** or give it the exact title. See [Find conversations and control memories](https://bearly.ai/docs/features/memory-search.md) for the available settings.

## Create and organize chats

Ask for the result you want in ordinary language:

```text copy
Create a chat called Vendor review in the Operations project.
```

```text copy
Rename this chat to Q3 planning and move it to the Finance project.
```

```text copy
Move the chat called Interview notes out of its project.
```

Bearly creates a requested chat without opening it, so you stay in the conversation where you made the request. When you say “this chat,” Bearly applies the change to the current conversation.

If several chats have similar titles, Bearly may inspect the list or ask which one you mean before making a change.

## Delete chats

Ask from a different chat than the one you want to remove:

```text copy
Delete the old Vendor review and Pricing scratchpad chats.
```

Bearly shows a confirmation with the selected chat titles. Review the list and choose **Allow once** only when you want those exact conversations deleted.

> **Danger — Deleting chats is permanent**
> Deletion removes the selected conversations, their messages, chat-local files, and chat memory. It cannot be undone. Bearly cannot delete the chat that is currently executing the request; use another chat or the sidebar instead.

## Coming soon

Cross-chat communication is coming soon. It will let Bearly agents work with each other across conversations.

To organize conversations manually from the sidebar, see [Organize your chats](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/organize.md).
