# Have your first conversation

HTML: [https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/first-chat/](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/first-chat/)

> Start a Bearly chat, guide the answer, revise your request, and use the controls on each message.

A Bearly chat is a continuing workspace: begin with a concrete request, inspect the answer, and refine it with follow-up messages.

## Send a request

1. Select **New Chat** in the sidebar.
2. If the work belongs to a project, select the project name in the context strip before sending the first message. A chat cannot be reassigned from this control after it begins, but you can [move it later](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/organize.md#move-chats-into-projects).
3. Write your request in the composer. Include the result you want, the relevant context, and any constraints that would change the answer.

For example: `Compare these two proposals in a table, then recommend one. Favor lower operational risk over short-term savings.`

4. Select **Send message**, or press <kbd>Enter</kbd> on a computer.

Bearly shows your request followed by its answer. Continue in the same composer to ask for a revision, challenge an assumption, or add information.

## Stop or redirect an answer

While Bearly is working, **Send message** becomes **Stop**. Select it to end the current answer. Anything already shown remains in the conversation.

If you type a new message while Bearly is still working, the control changes to **Interrupt**. Select it to stop the current work and send the new direction.

Stopping does not undo actions that already finished. If a tool asks for approval, read the request before deciding whether to allow it.

## Revise an earlier request

On a computer, hover over your message to reveal its controls. On a phone or tablet, the controls remain visible beneath it.

1. Select **Edit Query** under the request you want to change.
2. Edit the text or attachments in the composer. The context strip reads **Editing message**.
3. Select **Send message** to run the revised request, or select **Cancel** to leave the original unchanged.

The revision becomes another version of that point in the conversation. Use **Previous version of query** and **Next version of query** to move between versions.

## Rerun a request

When model controls are available, use **Rerun with same model** beneath a request when you want a fresh answer without changing the wording. To try another available model, open the model name beside **Rerun** and choose one from the menu.

Available models can depend on your plan and, for managed accounts, your team's policy. A model that is unavailable may prompt you to change plans or choose another option.

## Copy or remove a message

- Select **Copy** beneath either side of an exchange to copy that request or answer with its formatting.
- Select **Query info** to see when the exchange started and completed, along with its duration.
- Select **Delete Query**, then confirm **Delete Message**, to remove the request and its answer from the chat.

> **Danger — Deleted messages cannot be restored**
> Deleting a query removes that exchange immediately. To remove the entire conversation, use the chat menu in the sidebar instead.

## If an answer fails

- If a message says **Unable to load message**, select **Get help** to report the rendering problem.
- If Bearly stops because of a temporary connection or service problem, rerun the request after the connection recovers.
- If a new chat cannot be prepared, keep the page open. Bearly preserves the draft, retries temporary failures, and shows **Try again** when a manual retry is useful.

To add material to the conversation, see [Work with files in a chat](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/files.md). To find or tidy earlier work, see [Organize your chats](https://bearly.ai/docs/chats/organize.md).
